What this is
Birds, Bugs & Botanicals is a nature-education social media page. Each day we feature a single bird, insect, or plant with a real photo, a short set of facts, and sometimes a brief AI-generated video — all paired with a soothing natural soundscape. The goal is simple: teach people something true and interesting about the natural world, and make them a little more excited to go spend time in it.
How content gets posted
This site exists to document a small internal tool that supports the page: an automated Python script that we run ourselves to publish content to our TikTok account through TikTok's official API. Each day, the script:
- selects the day's featured bird, bug, or plant,
- puts together the accompanying photo or video and a short factual caption, and
- publishes that post directly to the Birds, Bugs & Botanicals TikTok account.
The tool has no public interface and no user accounts. It doesn't read, collect, or interact with data belonging to other TikTok users — it only ever posts automatically generated content to a connected TikTok account.
